Sylvan Source's unique technology provides ultra-clean water using a four-step process:Degassing
Water is heated to near boiling inside the degasser. Pre-heating allows dissolved gases and organics to vaporize. Counter-flowing steam from the distiller discharges these contaminants out of the degasser. This is not a "vent" typical of standard distillation systems. Please see our Degasser test results -

Distillation
After degassing, water moves into the distiller where it is converted to steam. Unlike typical distillation systems where mist droplets containing contaminants are cast up from the distiller and carried forward to the condenser with the steam, Sylvan Source systems perform an intermediate, demisting process.
Demisting
After leaving the distiller, mist droplets enter the demister. Here, steam and heavier mist droplets are separated using a patent-pending process and discharged from the demister. Only ultra-clean steam is allowed to move to the last stage - condensation.
Condensing
Creates ultra-clean, delicious water
The condenser takes the steam, cools it and condenses it into ultra-clean water for cooking and drinking.
In addition to the four-step water processing, the Sylvan Source technology has a patented self-cleaning process.
Self-cleaning
Most distillers require manual cleaning after every use due to scale build-up. Without this manual cleaning system efficiency is significantly reduced and can be followed by failure of the distiller's heating element. However, in the M-600 a patented self-cleaning process makes sure that suspended solids are periodically and automatically flushed from the system during and after the water making cycle.
